The Retailer…
Q What are the minimum standards required to become a
Raid-control “Police Certificated Premises”?
A There are five: staff trained in raid awareness, cash
management systems in place, time delay systems in use, camera(s)
in operation and stolen cash traceable using money staining equipment.
Q If I decide to adopt Raid-control in my premises how
will I know what security equipment I need to achieve the required
standard?
A Your local Police will conduct a risk assessment of
your premises that will identify the areas of need and you will
be provided with a “Toolkit” booklet that describes
the type of security equipment required.
Q What will it cost?
A This depends on the security equipment already installed
in your premises, but let’s assume you have none, a typical
package could cost from £1000.
Q That’s a significant sum of money. Is there
any help for retailers to pay for this type of security equipment?
A Yes there is. The vast majority of retailers who
have adopted Raid-control have received local or central funding
from 50% to 100%. Your local Police will be able to advise
you on what funding is available.
Q Are there any ongoing costs that I need to be aware
of?
A It is important to ensure that all security equipment
is maintained and serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s
/ suppliers instructions. Charges may be made for maintenance
and / or servicing and enquiries should be made regarding the
level of these charges before installation.
The Police…
Q What will it cost for a representative of Raid-control to visit
my force area and give a presentation?
A This service is free, as is all Raid-control support.
Q What is the cost to Police to adopt Raid-control?
A Adoption and membership of Raid-control is free to
Police.
Q What is the cost to Police to implement Raid-control?
A The most significant cost is time. Each Police area
will need to nominate a project co-ordinator to identify premises
that will benefit from Raid-control and liaise with local and
central funding agencies.
Q Who provides the Raid-control material and what does
it cost?
A Raid-control will provide its’ unique automated
software program for risk assessments and specifically designed
origination and artwork free of charge. However, adoptive Police
areas may wish to brand the material with their own force logo,
this may be chargeable dependant on whether completed in-house
or outsourced.
Q What does the Raid-control retailer information pack
include?
A The pack includes a two page explanation document,
managers / proprietors guide, staff training manual & audit
log, table-top training aid, information booklet, equipment
booklet and incident reporting form.
Q Who provides the retailer with the Raid-control information
pack.
A This is the responsibility of the adoptive force
and, dependant on quantity, can cost from £22 per premises,
however, in previous installations the information pack has
been sponsored by the participating equipment providers / installers.
Q What happens once a retailer achieves Raid-control
minimum standards?
A When the retailer achieves the required standards
and following an inspection by Police, the premises will become
a Raid-control “Police Certificated Premises” and
will be issued with the all-important deterrent branding.
Q Will Raid-control remain involved once a project
has been completed?
A Raid-control offer full support before, during and
after implementation. In co-operation with the adoptive force,
Raid-control will promote the brand, locally and nationally,
with the objective of raising awareness that premises displaying
Raid-control branding are unattractive as targets for robbery.
Raid-control will also be available to offer advice and support
should a force decide to expand the initiative.
Q Are Police required to conduct regular audits following
a premises becoming certified?
A Due to conditions that may be attached to funding
Raid-control within a particular Police area, it is not the
intention to impose an auditing regime on adoptive forces following
the certification of premises that have achieved Raid-control
minimum standards.
Raid-control consider that some form of auditing process should be in
place to maintain the standards set at the time of certification, however,
it will be for the adoptive force to decide. Where it comes to notice
that a certificated premises has fallen below the required minimum
standards, the owner should be informed that unless the minimum standards
are maintained, certification will be removed.
